Fever-reducing patches are helpful in relieving fever and discomfort, but they cannot treat the underlying disease causing the fever.

 

Fever-reducing patches primarily work through physical cooling. Their core component is usually a polymer gel containing water and volatile substances such as menthol. When applied to areas with high blood flow, such as the forehead, neck, or armpits, the water in the gel continuously vaporizes and absorbs heat, thus carrying away heat from the body surface and lowering the local skin temperature. This provides a cooling and comfortable feeling, helping to relieve symptoms such as headache and irritability caused by fever. This physical cooling method is relatively safe, contains no drugs, and generally does not enter the bloodstream through the skin. Therefore, it is a gentle supplementary care method for infants, pregnant women, and people allergic to antipyretics. It is suitable for low-grade fever or as an adjunct measure for patients with high fever between doses of antipyretics, improving the patient's subjective comfort and reducing physical exertion caused by high temperatures. However, the effect of fever-reducing patches is limited to localized cooling of the body surface; they cannot regulate the body's hypothalamus thermoregulatory center, nor can they eliminate pathogenic factors such as viruses and bacteria that cause fever. Therefore, they cannot replace medication for treating the primary disease. When using this product, ensure that the skin is intact and avoid applying it to broken skin or around the eyes. If redness, swelling, or itching occurs, discontinue use immediately.
